the sybarite chamber players

"...a superb group that plays with intelligence and heart."

Devoted to educating and expanding the repertoire for string quintet, the Sybarite Chamber Players break down conventional musical boundaries to boldly step forward into a new genre of chamber music. Juxtaposing the likes of Stravinsky with Radiohead or Dvorak with Led Zeppelin, the Sybarite Chamber Players are considered one of the most versatile ensembles of its kind, nimbly programming the most fresh and daunting combinations of music styles.

Our latest projects include: Radiohead Remixed- commissioning, performing, and recording classical works inspired and influenced by Radiohead, as well The DIDO Project- melding art technology & humanism in the heart of the Time Warner Center at Columbus Circle. Ongoing projects include: the Alternative Venues Initiative seeking out untraditional performance venues as well as an Annual International Composition Contest.

The Sybarite Chamber Players have appeared numerous times at the Aspen Music Festival and on the LaSalle concert series in Cincinnati as well as on Classical Thursdays concert series at Time Warner Center, Ten O’ Clock Classics, the Museum of Sex, and the Cutting Room in Manhattan. Members of the group have performed with some of the finest ensembles here and abroad including the Metropolitan Opera, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Pittsburgh Symphony, Elektra Chamber Players, New World Symphony, and IRIS Chamber Orchestra.

With a driving force paralleled by few, the Sybarite Chamber Players adroitly manipulate musical styles and genres to challenge the way classical chamber music is presented today. The Sybarite Chamber Players is a non-profit arts organization based in Manhattan and continues to perform at the Aspen Music Festival, pioneering groundbreaking performances of the old and the new.
