Hit the ground running

Hello to our friends far and wide! Sybarite5 is getting ready to hit the ground running with our 2013-2014 season. But first, we'd like to reflect on our most recent visit to Colorado in August and extend a huge thanks to our new friends at the Strings Music Festival in Steamboat Springs as well as our incredible friends in Aspen. Our experience in Steamboat was fantastic, and we appreciate the warm and welcoming audiences we had there. In Aspen we performed a very special house concert to kick off the preparations for the Forward Festival. We caught up with old friends, made new ones, and we would like to give a special thanks to the incredible Katherine Fleck and Marcy Edelstein for co-hosting our concert. Our community in Aspen is essential to who we are, and to our growth as an ensemble. Our next concert will take place at our NYC home, the cell on October 11th.We'll give the world premiere of Pop Rocks, for quintet by Eric Byers (cellist of the Calder Quartet). Were also looking forward to performing the New York premiere of the string quintet version of Parks, by Daniel Bernard Roumain. We hope that those of you in New York will be able to join us for this evening of premieres and a few of our favorites tunes. We'll be on the road for much of October and November, checking off a few more states in our quest to perform in all 50. The tour kicks off in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands! Check out the tour page of our website for full details. We hope to see you at an upcoming concert soon!

Until next time, happy Fall! Angela, Laura, Louis, Sami & Sarah Sybarite5
