Sybarite5 Performs Concert at UW Nov. 20
November 15, 2013 — Described as a rock star-chamber music ensemble, Sybarite5 String Quintet performs Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the University of Wyoming Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall.
Tickets cost $20 for adults and $17 for senior citizens and students. For tickets, visit the Wyoming Union or Performing Arts box offices, call (307) 766-6666 or go online at www.uwyo.edu/finearts.
Another Concert Artist Guild winner, Sybarite5 plays everything from Mozart to Radiohead. Its new CD hit the top 10 on Billboard‘s classical crossover chart. The ensemble also appears at crossover venues, from Carnegie Hall and the Aspen Music Festival, to the Apple Store and the Museum of Sex.
“We’ll be featuring Sybarite5 in its ‘New Music Idol’ project,” says Cedric Reverand, UW Cultural Programs director. “The group will work with student composers, perform their works at a juried recital on Nov. 19 and, then, the winning student composition will be premiered as part of our Sybarite5 concert on the 20th.”
“Sybarite5 excelled at the exquisite, playing with relish, a sense of comfort and a frisson of missionary zeal,” according to a Washington Post review.
